Okay, I’m still on blog-cation, but I figured I’d throw you a bone, mainly because our LA correspondent, Jami B., told me a few days ago that the trailer for Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (the movie) is online. If you haven’t read the book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, you need to get a move on, because the film debuts Oct. 3 and it promises to be super-awesome. Although, as we all know, films are almost never quite as awesome as the books upon which they’re based. Anyway. Go watch the trailer, then go read or re-read the book. How psyched are you???
PS. That pic to the left is from the movie poster. You can click it to enlarge the image. ♥
I really hope this is a good adaptation. It definitely has the potential to be great!
I really hope they did a good job. I can’t wait for October. It’s right before my birthday, so I have an excuse to see it both on the weekend it’s open a few days after.
*uber-squee* The YUGO! And tHom! And Nick and Norah and awesome!
…that shirt is totally not flannel enough.
I love that book so much I really hope the movie turns out well. The authors were involved with it a little so *fingers crossed*
I really wish it wasn’t 2:00 in the morning at my grandmother’s house so I could watch the trailer with sound/reasonably fast internet access.
I want to see this movie so bad. Hope it’s done well.
It will be fun to see this on film and see how much of the book makes it to the screen, how well it translates.
I have to say, I think Michael Cera is probably perfect casting for Nick, though he may be a little nerdier than the Nick I imagined when I read the book. Kat Dennings is gorgeous, and hopefully she’s just right for Norah — a little anal retentive, a little pushy, a little neurotic, but still totally awesome.
Serafina, when you’re not at your grandmother’s house, please please please do watch the trailer. I swear I’ve watched it a dozen times, I’m so mesmerized by it.
My question is this: How will all the thoughts N&N think to themselves in the book get translated onto the screen? I really hope it isn’t through some awful narration. But it doesn’t matter. I’m super-psyched, and so glad that Jami B. told us the moment the trailer was out. She’s got her finger on the pulse of the film industry, so she’ll probably share more news as it emerges. Big hugs to Jami B!!!
I don’t remember half of that being in the book, but it looks hilarious. (Caroline finding Jesus was absolute gold.) Can’t wait!
Oh, of COURSE I watched it. I just had to watch it without sound, which probably takes away some of the effect. But still HOORAY PRETTY MOVIE TRAILER SHINY!
The trailer? SO MUCH BETTER WITH SOUND.
God, I want to see this movie so bad.
I saw the trailer a couple days ago when Rachel Cohn posted it on her blog. I’m really excited for the movie and while I do think that Michael Cera has the right look for Nick, his voice is not at all how I heard Nick’s voice while reading it. To me, Nick had a deeper voice than Michael Cera’s.
But whatever. I still can’t wait to see this movie- it looks great!!
Yes, finding Jesus was absofreakinglutely brilliant, whether it was in the book or not.
So … how many days to October?
And is anyone here going to see/interested in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II? Jami B will of course be covering it for us, but I’m curious about whether this second film will be nearly as popular as the first. Then again … all the actresses have made leaps and bounds in their careers since SOTP the first …
Michael Cera’s not exactly how I pictured Nick either, but I think he’ll do a good job.
How many days? Too many. Too many.
I personally never read the Sisterhood books, and I’m not quite interested enough to see the movie.
Serafina, as a reviewer I probably shouldn’t say this, but I wouldn’t bother. They’re okay books — middling, not mind-blowing. In other words, should you come across a used Sisterhood book at your local library on sale for 25 cents, go for it. One should always stockpile books in case of a bubble bath emergency. But I wouldn’t advise spending eight bucks on any of the books.
The movie, on the other hand … well, who can pass up an opportunity to see Rory, Betty and Serena all in one place??? Wait. Serena is in the movie, yes?
That was always my impression of them. *shrug* I like my books more paranormal. Or punk rock.
Yeah, Sisterhood is more … well, actually it reminds me of a watered-down-for-YA Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, but it’s definitely on the girly coming of age side rather than the paranormal or punk rock side. Still, I think it could make for an interesting flick, and I can’t wait to hear what Jami B. thinks of it …
